Purpose: There would be delays in CrowdTwist registering that a user has earned a pin from an activity that would prevent us from immediately rewarding a user with a pin. This document is to think through the possible scenarios.

Pin Earning Activities

  • Watching episode 50% or more
    • User could continue watching more episodes via autoplay so there would be ample time
    • User could exit VOD player at any point after hitting 50%
  • Watch at least 90% of three short form episodes
    • User could watch more shorts so there would be ample time
    • User could exit VOD player at end of third short
  • Gameplay - playing 2 minutes of game
    • User could play longer than 2 minutes so there would be ample time
    • User could leave right when they hit the 2 minutes mark. Delay would be as long as Tokens Fanfare

  • Watching DCOM
    • User could continue watching the DCOM longer than 50% so there would be ample time
    • User could exit DCOM at any point after hitting 50% mark

  • Bonus Pin Fanfares
    • User would be delayed for as long as the last pin in the set's fanfare UNLESS...
    • Unless CrowdTwist is able to award the user the Bonus Pin at the same time as the last pin in the set. Then, the delay would depend on the activity that triggered earning the last pin.

System Pins

  • Authentication -
    • User can be delayed a few seconds with Auth Success screen. ~5 seconds at least
  • Easter Eggs
    • User is delayed for as long as the last animation they triggered
  • Live Play
    • User is delayed for as long as they continue playing Live Play after hitting the 2 minute mark and Tokens Fanfare
  • One ID - TBD

How might a delayed pin fanfare appear?

UX Questions:

What's more jarring or a negative experience? Receiving a pin fanfare when I visit Profile when I don't expect it? Or receiving a pin fanfare when I enter MY PINS and also don't expect it?

  • Better in MY PINS

Location for delayed pin fanfare:

My Pins

  • More intentional expectation of Pins when tapping on MY PINS
  • Note: User can see latest pin they earned as the MY PINS icon
  • Users may miss a number of delayed pins if they don't bother to go into MY PINS for awhile.
    • Here is where a navigation type indicator would help guide users to the MY PINS space

SCENARIOS

Scenario 1

  1. As a user, Billie is eligible to earn a pin when she hits the 50% mark of a DuckTales video. She then exits the VOD player at that point and doesn't get a pin fanfare (because of the CrowdTwist delay).
  2. Billie then goes to watch an entire Vampirina video, gets the end card, and then close out of the VOD player.
  3. She receives the pin fanfare for the Vampirina video she just watched.
  4. Billie later navigates to Profile and MY PINS intending to see her Pins and receives the delayed pin fanfare for DuckTales.

Scenario 2

  1. As a user, Billie is eligible to earn a pin when she hits the 50% mark of a DuckTales video. She then exits the VOD player at that point and doesn't get a pin fanfare (because of the CrowdTwist delay).
    1. The DuckTales pin was the last one in Billie's DuckTales set, so she qualifies for a bonus pin.
  2. Billie later navigates to Profile and receives the delayed pin fanfare for her final DuckTales pin. She then also receives the DuckTales Bonus Pin.

Scenario 3 - MY PINS FANFARE

  2. Billie later navigates to MY PINS to see her collection.
  3. Upon tapping on MY PINS, Billie receives the delayed pin fanfare for her final DuckTales pin. She then also receives the DuckTales Bonus Pin.
