Overview
The email system was inherited from what was written for Teamtools pre-2009. Written in PHP it lives directly on the mail server (mail01.lv2.clubpenguin.com) oand parses incoming emails based on the list of accounts located in the local MySQL database instance.
Features:
- Automatically blocking specific email addresses or whole domains (see Adding Email Addresses to the Spam Blacklist)
- Discarding bounce messages from other mail servers (see Database logging of bounced email addresses)
- Creating new tickets from emails sent to the handled email accounts (see Flurry List of Account Categories)
- Attaching responses to an existing ticket/support thread
- Daily health check validates the following states:
- Emails are not backing up in any particular queue
- Emails are being processed for each queue at least one per day
- All directories exist (for Maildir processed accounts)
- All POP3 accounts exist and are accessible (for POP3 processed accounts)
- Check that all emails are getting transferred to the support.ticket database
- Check if any fatal errors are showing up in the logs
