Goals
- Reduce server load on live event user exit.
Tasks
Background and strategic fit
The majority of users launched the Quizney game from the hero as anticipated. At the end of game play, users exited the game at the leader board and were returned to their entry point. Those coming from Home stresses resources referencing personalized content. Peter Gluck engaged Design for consultation on the mitigation strategy. Our design strategy should solve for Quizney, as well as other live events such as RDMA, Live Play events.
Assumptions
- Cross platform solution
- All live events (Quizney, RDMA, Live Play, ...live streaming park parade?)
- We want to distribute user load over the course 30 seconds
User Story Development
| # | Feature Title | User Story Description | Importance | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Exit UI | As a user, I would like a happy path from my live event back to DisneyNOW... | Could Have | Games all exit with a close button (our IX pattern), however, we should design into our Game's UI a happy path. |
| 2 | Exit Page | As a user, I would like to celebrate my game play even if don't make the leaderboard... | Should Have | On exit of the Live Event game user can be greeted with a personalized page (using cached resources) aund multiple options to proceed. |
| 3 | Exit Strategy MVP | As a business, I want users to be returned to a non-personalized page which won't cause server resource issues due to cache design. | Must Have | VPPO to program the Quizney (or Live Event Hero) to deeplink into the Game, thereby causing the system to return the user to the Games page. |

Catherine Gallant, Peter Gluck and I were supposing kids who just finished playing a Live Event (like Quizney, or Live Play) are more likely to be interested in playing another game (rather than positioning video) if they remain in the app. Do we have research around game play user behaviors? I think it's a sound hypothesis, but didn't want to miss the chance to see if we have insights to leverage. Thanks Cathy! |
