DisneyNOW Design : UX Inconsistency

The design is a dancing Mickey with no label.

• Roku has a case where it cannot animate the Mickey to indicate something is happening.
• In this case we need a label to indicate “Loading…” so it’s not perceived as an error (placeholder text; see Maria for final). Roku can animate the text in this case (but not Mickey)…
• Add Roku edge case to add the label so we can otherwise maintain consistency

• formerly "Who's Watching" (Netflix copy)
• Removing logo (distraction from user task)
• New (Profile) is consistently presented at the end of profiles list

• tvOS & Roku will display square form factor (like on picker) also on home, and
• will also display the same art as used in the picker, bringing it to consistency.

• tvOS & Roku will respect theme so that the play button and progress bar indicator will use the primary color for the appropriate theme (DisneyNow default red, or Disney Junior teal)
• progress bar will be proportional

•  All Shows & Show Details, etc on Mobile/Tablet use a filter control vs a Quick Links control on tvOS/Roku.

• Edit Name in TV experience will go straight to editing

• Should be presented in consistent manner and typography style (besides focus state)
  • First row: Season detail (S3 E3 22m)
  • Second row: Show Name (Bold)
  • Third row: Episode title
• Card treatment facilitates mobile experience usability (explore if needed for TV/Tab)

• TV Changed mid-process from 9 to 7; do we want to do 6 to be consistent?
• On TV & M/T the show tile is same as the faves width 

• TV changes transparency on row focus (effects readability)
• Proportionally sized text
• Add (each) Section labels to Mobile & Tablet (introduce whitespace) 
• TV always one row and scrolls, tablet two rows, mobile vert scroll only 
• UPDATE: can be as many or few as programmed (no longer using a set number to fill up row or hiding content after limit)

• Tune the gradient—our content should be forefront of the experience, not muddied
• No Play on Hero for TV (trigger is to click on character nav); some character nav items go to collection versus into video 
• Roku Hero black fade (tech limitation)

• Mobile/Tablet can swipe page to change section filter
• M/T should left align labels and add section whitespacing
• Consistent Season/Episode treatment 
  • Tablet will add Season (not redundant) 
  • TV will change to shorten and add seasons (not redundant for user reading)
  • TV episode title can be truncated, but not show name
• Update fallback tile for consistent treatment of logo

• Show Title treatment will be updated on TV to be consistent

• UPDATE: Filter should update view onfocus
• Logo is a branding requirement, exception for mobile UX
